Case Study 1 –Selecting an appropriate Business Information solution & implementing the first BI project for a Wealth Management Company.
Background
Our client used Oracle as a standard throughout the group of companies and there was strong pressure to introduce Oracle/Hyperion Business Intelligence suite. The company CEO believed this was a sledgehammer to crack a walnut and refused to comply resulting in an 18 month impasse.
Approach
Greig Ross Associates considered the current operational practices and determined the business requirements and carried out a business value check. A review of the market and the Oracle solution resulted in a short list of three suppliers each of which proposed a solution which Greig Ross Associates reviewed and reported on including a recommendation.
Following the agreement to proceed with the preferred supplier Greig Ross Associates carried out a proof of concept with client and supplier followed by the implementation of the solution.
The Result
Following the 18 month suspension of the original proposal the client:
- Implemented an excellent first project within two months
- Costs were a quarter of the original solution
- The client has a 'good fit' supplier with industry sector knowledge
- The BI solution is being rolled out to the other companies in the group.
